Adaptive Model for Agent-Based Intelligent Tutoring Systems

The purpose of this article is to build a model of interaction between the learner and the teacher, where the teacher performs the role of an Intelligent Tutoring System (ITS). If a teacher in the learning process is replaced with a computer system, it should be equipped with a system to adapt to the learner’s cognitive state. We studied factors that influence the learner’s perception of the information in the learning process. We considered a dialogue model in the process of learning. We used the concept of intelligent agents for modeling and implementing the learner’s cognitive state and the tutor’s adaptation to the learner for effective learning. This paper presents an adaptive tutoring system based on a Markov Decision Process model. Applying this model to a tutoring system is a unique concept in computer based training.
